New Springbok captain Salmaan Moerat is enduring a baptism of fire against Portugal in a spicy test match against Portugal in Bloemfontein.
Having already seen centre Andre Esterhuizen sent from the action due to a high tackle that saw Portuguese centre Jose Lima leave the action. Moerat is now staring down a second red card as winger Kurt-Lee Arendse was shown a yellow card on review for a ‘croc roll’.
Just one week removed from Malcolm Marx being on the receiving end of a similar incident against Ireland in which Caelan Doris was shown a yellow card, Arendse completed a similar clean-out on Portuguese fullback Simao Bento.
Despite being down two players, the Boks are the ones who have scored since the incident through a moment of individual brilliance from centre Lukhanyo Am.
Portugal did race away for what would’ve been a scintillating try but they were called back for obstruction.
